DE: Im Zentrum von In Zukunft werden wir silberne Kängurus jagen… steht eine künstlich geschaffene Ruine, die nicht auf eine reale Vergangenheit verweist, sondern als Ausgangspunkt für eine erfundene Geschichte dient. Statt einer historischen Erinnerung wird eine utopische Zukunft erschaffen: Eine Zivilisation, die die Ruine als Heimat nutzt, jagt silberne Kängurus, fischt nach Luftwesen in einem silbergestreiften See und lebt in seltsamen Behausungen.

In Nordrhein-Westfalen gibt es viele leerstehende Backsteingebäude, die zunehmend verfallen und zugleich von den Spuren ihrer ehemaligen Bewohner erzählen. Unsere Installation greift diese Atmosphäre zwischen Erinnerung, Verfall und Neuanfang auf.

Durch die erfundene Welt erhält der Ort eine neue Bedeutung. Die Gestaltungselemente sind so arrangiert, dass sie eine glaubhafte Zukunft erzählen. Das Projekt spielt mit der Wahrnehmung wie Geschichte entsteht, verändert oder neu erfunden wird und zeigt den ständigen Wandel im Verhältnis zwischen Mensch, Natur und Zeit.

ENG: At the center of In the Future We Will Hunt Silver Kangaroos… stands an artificially created ruin that does not refer to an actual past but serves as the starting point for an imagined story. Instead of evoking historical memory, the work constructs a utopian future: a civilization that inhabits the ruin as its home, hunts silver kangaroos, fishes for airborne creatures in a silver-striped lake, and lives in peculiar dwellings.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, many abandoned brick buildings are slowly decaying while still bearing traces of their former inhabitants. Our installation captures this atmosphere between memory, decay, and new beginnings.

Through the invented world, the site acquires new meaning. The design elements are arranged to tell a believable story of the future. The project plays with perception how history is created, altered, or reinvented and reveals the constant transformation in the relationship between human beings, nature, and time.
